![]() ISTA+/Rheingold is much more user-friendly, designed for dealer service depts with a decent GUI, good for diagnostics and a lot of service functions. NCS Expert is for coding (configuring options), which a lot of people confuse with programming. INPA is factory software that’s old, ugly (as in DOS ugly), partly in German (mostly English), but has access to some unique diagnostics/raw data if you dig deep into submenus. You’ll want to get the latest SP-DATEN (configuration) file for the E60. There are instructions to get EDIABAS up and running, which is the data conduit between Windows and the car (via K+DCAN USB cable and OBD II connector). Their site links to MEGA where the software actually resides: INPA, NCS Expert, Tool32 (EDIABAS), WinKFP and more.
